Welcome to the International Rhodius Academy Masterclasses and Concerts for Double Bass at Castle Namedy, Germany.
The Rhodius Academy Masterclasses are hosted by Castle Namedy every two years in July. Top double bass soloists work with talented young bassists from around the globe.
We offer public single lessons, concerts, specialized workshops, and presentations. 20 students receive individual lessons from each of the masters during the five intense days.
Our goals are to support talented young bassists, provide new knowledge and artistic experiences, expand international networks and empower the standing of the double bass in the concert world. Scholarships are available. Instruments can be borrowed.
Founded in 2017 by the Manfred and Rosemarie Rhodius Foundation, the Academy is artistically directed by worldwide famous double bassist Christine Hoock.
The Academy was born with a special love for the double bass. Besides intense artistic work, we enjoy numerous opportunities for networking and embracing the double bass spirit. Castle Namedy, on the River Rhine, is a historic and harmonious location, with the Princesses of Hohenzollern as wonderful and music-enthusiastic hosts
